Roland Hero Competition Terms and Conditions

Please read these competition terms and conditions carefully. By entering a Roland competition you are agreeing to these terms & conditions.

  1. This competition (the “Competition”) is organised and run by Roland DG (UK) Limited a company incorporated in England and Wales (company number 04339715) whose registered address is Griffin House, Windmill Road, Clevedon, BS21 6UJ, United Kingdom (the “Promoter”).
  2. ELIGIBILITY.
    • 2.1. To participate in this Competition individuals must satisfy the following conditions:
      Be a resident of Albania, Algeria, Andorra, Armenia, Austria, Azerbaijan, Bangladesh, Belarus, Belgium, Bosnia, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Georgia, Germany, Gibraltar, Greece, Greenland, Herzegovina, Hungary, Iceland, India, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Maldives, Macedonia, Malta, Moldova, Montenegro, Morocco, Nepal, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sri Lanka, Sweden, Switzerland, Tadzhikistan, Tunisia, Turkey, Turkmenistan, Ukraine, United Kingdom or Uzbekistan.
      • 2.1.1. Be aged 18 years old or over at the time of entry.
      • 2.1.2. Be the owner of the Promoter’s equipment (must provide equipment serial number and proof of purchase) (“Qualifying Equipment”) or an employee of the entity which owns the Qualifying Equipment (“Entity”) and fully authorised by a director or owner of the Entity to enter this Competition (“Eligible Entrant” or “Participant”).
    • 2.2. This Competition is not open to:
      • 2.2.1. Employees of the Promoter.
      • 2.2.2. Any group company or subcontractor of the Promoter.
      • 2.2.3. Anyone professionally connected with this Competition.
      • 2.2.4. Any of the Promoter’s competitors.
  3. COMPETITION DESCRIPTION.
    • 3.1. The Competition is skill-based and requires the Eligible Entrant to submit an explanation of how the Promoter and Qualifying Equipment has helped them to be a Roland Hero.
  4. ENTRY REQUIREMENTS. Entry is made on-line on the Promotion Website which is located at https://www.rolanddg.co.uk/rolandhero. Eligible Entrants will be asked to explain why they are a Roland Hero to include a photo and complete an entry form providing the Promoter with the following information: contact details (name of individual, business, location, email, website), details of the Qualifying Equipment (including model). Participants must then agree to be bound by these terms when they tick the box to agree to the terms and click on the ‘Submit’ button. These terms are hosted on this web server https://www.rolanddg.co.uk/rolandhero.
  5. By entering the Competition any Participant agrees to participate in publicity and material resulting from the Competition if requested to do so by the Promoter and the Promoter reserves the right to use the details of any entrant in any publicity and/or promotional material, including social media.
  6. IMAGE RIGHTS. All photos submitted must be original, must have been created by the Participant submitting the creation and must not incorporate or include anything that is owned by any third party without their permission or that would require the additional consent of any third party. The Participant’s contribution must not violate any law or the copyright, trademark, publicity right, privacy right or any other right of any third party. 
  7. COMPETITION PERIOD. The Competition opens on 11 April 2018 and will close at 11.59 am on 31 December 2018 (“Competition Period”) after which the winner will be selected in accordance with the judging criteria set out in clause 10. Only entries received on or before the close of the Competition will be accepted without exception.
  8. ENTRY LIMITS. No purchase is necessary (other than the purchase of the Qualifying Equipment by the Entity). Incomplete, illegal, misdirected or late entries will not be accepted. Proof of sending will not be accepted as proof of delivery. The Promoter takes no responsibility for entries delayed, incomplete or lost due to technical reasons or otherwise.
  9. CONTENT RESTRICTIONS. Entries must be appropriate for public display, posting on a public website and in marketing material. Entries should not mention any competitive products or manufacturers by name. Entries must not be derogatory, offensive, threatening, defamatory, disparaging, libellous, slanderous or contain any content which is obscene, provocative or that violates the spirit of this Competition. The Promoter retains sole discretion to determine what constitutes inappropriate content and which entries it will post publicly. Participants acknowledge and agree that the Promoter shall have no obligation to post, display or otherwise make publicly available any Photo or information submitted by the Participant, and may, in its sole and unfettered discretion, remove, edit, modify or delete any Photo or information which the Participant submits. No correspondence will be entered into or justification given in this regard.
  10. JUDGING CRITERIA.
    • 10.1. All qualifying entries submitted will be judged by a panel of the Promoter’s employees after the Competition closing date. Entries will be judged on the following criteria:
      • 10.1.1. Creativity: How you have used Roland technology to achieve remarkable things. How you have solved a problem in a creative way. How you have designed or created something unusual, amazing, incredibly cool or quirky.
      • 10.1.2. Innovation: How you have done things differently. How you have tried something new or pushed the limits of what is possible.
      • 10.1.3. Entrepreneurship: How you have grown your business. How you have been successful in your business. 
      • 10.1.4. Inspirational: How you have helped or inspired or worked with others. What differences you have made to your community or to the print business overall.
    • 10.2. The winner could exceed in one or many of the criteria outlined above.
    • 10.3. The judges’ decisions are final and no correspondence will be entered into. Full names of the judges are available on request.
  11. PRIZE WINNER. Judges will choose one winner as described in clause 10 above.
  12. PRIZES.
    • 12.1. The Prize Winner will choose ONE of the following three holiday options.
      Option One. A trip to see the Northern Lights.
      This prize includes:
      • Fully inclusive car hire for the duration of your stay
      • 5 nights’ accommodation at the Hotel Borg by Keahotel, Reykjavik
      • Breakfast for two people in the hotel restaurant each morning
      • Super jeep safari experience to find the Northern Lights for two people
      • Golden Circle and Snowmobiling experience for two people on the Langjokull Glacier
      • Return transfers for two people from the hotel to the Blue Lagoon
      • Visit and entry to the Blue Lagoon Spa for two people which includes: entrance to the Blue Lagoon, silica mud mask, algae mask, use of towel, bathrobe and slippers and the first drink of your choice
      • Travel insurance for two people
      This prize is subject to the following conditions:
      • Due to the seasonal nature of this experience it is available between September and April and excludes Christmas, New Year, Valentines, Easter, School Holidays and Bank Holidays (both in the winner’s country and Iceland).
      • Driver must be over the age of 25 and have held a full clean driver’s licence for a minimum of 2 years. Fully inclusive refers to unlimited mileage, collision damage waiver, theft protection, local taxes and airport fees. Driver must also hold a valid credit card (not debit card) with a minimum of between £500- £1,000 (dependant on car hire company) available for security deposit, which is refundable upon safe return of the vehicle.
      • Hotel is classed as a 4 Star and is based on two adults sharing a double room with en-suite bathroom on a bed and breakfast basis. Twin rooms can be requested but cannot be guaranteed. At least one person must be over the age of 18.
      • Northern Lights tour is subject to availability at time of booking. Tour lasts approx. 3 hours and departs either 8pm or 9pm (winner can choose). Warm clothes including shoes, gloves, and hats are required for this excursion. The northern lights are visible under dark skies between the months of September to April, preferably under a clear, cloudless sky. Usually seen between 5pm and 2am. However sightings cannot be guaranteed. This activity is dependent on weather conditions.
      • Snowmobile glacier tour is subject to availability at time of booking. Tour lasts approx. 10 hours. 1 hour guided snowmobile ride with 2 persons per a vehicle. Includes all protective clothing and safety equipment for the snowmobile ride. A valid driver's licence is required for the winner to drive a snowmobile (passengers can ride without one). This activity is dependent on weather conditions.
      • Blue Lagoon experience must be booked in advance and is subject to availability at the time of booking. Spa treatments are subject to change and availability at the time of booking. Some treatments may not be suitable for people with certain medical conditions and will be substituted for a safe alternative should this be the case.
      • It is the winner’s responsibility to comply with the visa requirements of Iceland. Approval is at the discretion of the Icelandic Embassy and NDL Group cannot be held responsible for this being rejected. Any costs occurred in the arrangement of the visa, will need be paid by the winner.
      Option Two. A trip to Thailand.
      This prize includes:
      • Return transfers from the airport to the hotel
      • 7 nights’ accommodation for four people at the Samui Buri Beach Resort
      • Breakfast for four people in the hotel restaurant each morning
      • 4WD Jeep Jungle Tour experience for four people
      • Koh Samui Island Cruise and Snorkel experience for four people
      • Travel insurance for four people
      This prize is subject to the following conditions:
      • Stay is subject to availability at the discretion of the organiser and excludes Christmas, New Year, Valentines, Easter, School Holidays and Bank Holidays (both in the winner’s country and Thailand).
      • Transfers will be private and not shared with other passengers.
      • Hotel is classed as a 4 Star and is based on four people sharing two deluxe hillside sea view rooms with en-suite bathroom on a bed and breakfast basis. At least one person must be over the age of 18.
      • Jungle Jeep experience lasts approx. 7 hours. Hotel pick up and drop off included.
      • Koh Samui Island Cruise and Snorkelling day lasts approx. 7 hours. Includes boat transportation, lunch, snorkel gear and an informative, friendly and professional guide. Hotel pick up and drop off included.
      • It is the winner’s responsibility to comply with the visa requirements of Thailand. Approval is at the discretion of the Thailand Embassy and NDL Group cannot be held responsible for this being rejected. Any costs occurred in the arrangement of the visa, will need be paid by the winner.
      Option Three. A trip to Orlando to a major theme park.
      This prize includes:
      • Fully inclusive car hire for the duration of your stay
      • 7 nights’ accommodation for two adults and two children at the Wyndham Grand Orlando Resort
      • 7 days unlimited entry for two adults and two children to the Walt Disney Theme Parks. Includes:
        • Magic Kingdom Park
        • Epcot
        • Disney's Hollywood Studios or Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park
        • Use of the Walt Disney World Resort transportation system
      • Travel insurance for two adults and two children
      This prize is subject to the following conditions:
      • Stay is subject to availability at the discretion of the organiser and excludes Christmas, New Year, Valentines, Easter and Bank Holidays (both in the winner’s country and USA). At least one person must be over the age of 21 and children must be aged 11 years or younger at the time of stay.
      • Driver must be over the age of 25 and have held a full clean driver’s licence for a minimum of 2 years. Fully inclusive refers to unlimited mileage, collision damage waiver, theft protection, local taxes and airport fees. Driver must also hold a valid credit card (not debit card) with a minimum of between £500- £1,000 (dependant on car hire company) available for security deposit, which is refundable upon safe return of the vehicle.
      • Hotel is classed as a 4 Star and is based on two adults and two children sharing a family room with en-suite bathroom on a room only basis.
      • Park tickets will be for the day stated only and are non-transferable.
      • Disney is not a participant in or sponsor of this promotion.
      • It is the winner’s responsibility to comply with the visa requirements of the United States. Approval is at the discretion of US Embassy and NDL Group cannot be held responsible for this being rejected. Any costs occurred in the arrangement of the visa, will need be paid by the winner.
      The total approximate retail value of each prize option is 9,000 Euros. Actual retail value of trip varies based upon point of departure and airfare fluctuations. Any difference between stated approximate retail value and actual prize will not be awarded. The Prize description above constitutes the expected itinerary and details, and all aspects thereof are subject to availability and subject to change. The winner will be provided with additional details before the time of travel.
    • 12.2. All Prize options are subject to the following conditions:
      • 12.2.1. Travel insurance is subject to normal terms of acceptance. Pre-existing medical conditions may not be covered and in these situations the winner will be responsible for purchasing adequate travel insurance for the trip.
      • 12.2.2. All prizes must be claimed and booked by the prize winner within 12 months from the date the prize is awarded.
      • 12.2.3. Passengers must travel together and must hold valid passports and other necessary visas and travel documents such that they are lawfully able to travel to the relevant prize destination.
      • 12.2.4. Travel is subject to availability and embargos and is at the discretion of the organiser.
      • 12.2.5. Departure airport used will depend on the flight availability from the winner’s nearest international airports, which may not necessary be the closest.
      • 12.2.6. The carriers and hotel are responsible for the quality of the trip and any delays.
    • 12.3. Any costs or expenses associated with the acceptance and use of the Competition prize are the sole responsibility of the winner, including, but not limited to travel to and from home airport, any purchases, taxes, gratuities, telephone and internet access costs, any costs or damages relating to accommodation, spending money etc.
  13. NOTIFICATION OF WINNER. The Winner will be notified by email by 23 January 2019. The Winner must reply to the Promoter within 72 hours to claim the prize. If despite reasonable efforts of the Promoter contact cannot be made and/or a response is not received by 27 January 2019 the winner forfeits the prize, which may then be awarded to an alternative winner at the judge’s discretion.
  14. PRIZE WINNER. The winner’s name and location will be published on the Promotion Website. Details of the prize winner will be available on request by sending a request to ‘Roland DG Competition', Roland DG (UK) Limited, Griffin House, Windmill Road, Clevedon, BS21 6UJ, United Kingdom.
  15. The prizes are as described, non-transferable, not exchangeable for cash and no cash alternative will be offered in the event that the winner is unable to claim or use the prize for any reason.
  16. If the advertised prizes are not available for any reason, the Promoter reserves the right to offer an alternative prize of equal or greater value.
  17. ROLAND HERO. If you are confirmed as a Roland Hero:
    • 17.1. You can add the Roland Hero badge to your website/collateral. Guidelines for using the Roland Hero badge are as follows:
      • 17.1.1. You can use the badge in marketing and collateral but not in a way that would cause damage to the Roland brand.
      • 17.1.2. You must not use a variation, abbreviation or take-off of this badge for any purpose nor use it in a disparaging manner.
      • 17.1.3. You must not use this badge that would imply Roland DG’s affiliation with or endorsement, sponsorship, or support of a third party product or service.
    • 17.2. You can tell everyone you’re one of 2018's Roland Heroes and use the #RolandHero hashtag in your social media.
    • 17.3. We will list your name on the Roland Hero campaign page https://www.rolanddg.co.uk/rolandhero and we will mention you on our Roland social media pages.
    As one of the 2018 Roland Heroes:
    • 17.4. You might become one of our spotlight Roland Heroes and have the opportunity to tell more of your Roland story. We will contact you if this applies.
    • 17.5. You will be entered into the 2018 Roland Heroes awards for a chance to win the holiday outlined in section 12. PRIZES.
  18. By entering this Competition, Participants acknowledge that they have read, understood, accept and agree to be bound by these terms and conditions and by the decision of the Promoter in relation to all matters relating to the Competition, whose decision shall be final (no correspondence shall be entered into).
  19. PRIVACY. For the avoidance of doubt any personal data relating to Competition Participants will be used solely in accordance with current English data protection legislation and will not be disclosed to a third party (but may be transferred to a group company of the Promoter) without the individual’s prior consent. Information collated by the Promoter through the administration of this Competition may be used to provide the Participant with information relating to Promoter products and services. Please read Roland’s policy at www.rolanddg.co.uk/company/privacy-statement for full details of how the Promoter may use any personal information it collects about Participants.
  20. CONDITIONS OF PARTICIPATION. Use by an otherwise Eligible Entrant of false information such as a name, Entity name, address or other activity or any other failure to comply with these terms and conditions will lead to disqualification. The Promoter reserves the right to require any Eligible Entrant to provide documentary proof of Entity identity and activities to its satisfaction before being eligible to claim the prize.
  21. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY. The Promoter accepts no responsibility for any damage, loss, injury or disappointment suffered by any Participant entering the Competition or as a result of accepting the prize. The Promoter is not responsible for any problems or technical malfunction of any telephone network or lines, computer on-line systems, servers, or providers, computer equipment, software failure of any email or entry to be received on account of technical problems or traffic congestion on the internet, telephone lines or at any website, or any combination thereof, including any injury or damage to the Participants or any other person's computer or mobile telephone related to or resulting from participation in the Competition. The Promoter will not be liable for any loss or damage whatsoever caused by matters relating to the Competition. Nothing shall exclude the Promoter’s liability for death or personal injury as a result of its negligence or for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation or for any other liability which cannot be excluded or limited by applicable law.
  22. Events may occur that render the Competition itself or the awarding or the delivery of the prize impossible due to reasons beyond the control of the Promoter and accordingly the Promoter may at its absolute discretion vary or amend the Competition and the Participant agrees that no liability shall attach to the Promoter as a result thereof. Any such variation or amendment will be notified on the Promotion Website.
  23. The Competition and these terms and conditions are governed by the laws of England and Wales and are subject to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the Courts of England and Wales.
  24. This agreement is drafted in the English language. If this agreement is translated into any other language, the English language text shall prevail.
