"In 90 per cent of the cases, you can do perfect work on the VG2 just using the standard setting," he adds. "We're also very impressed with the efficiency and ink use of the VG2. We've printed thousands of metres and have actually used very little ink."
As a combination printer/cutter, the TrueVIS VG2's cutting abilities – such as the new Multiple Crop Marks feature – were also put through their paces by Gielen Reclame.
"The TrueVIS VG2 cutter is unbelievably accurate," says Chris. "We normally apply some overlap around the logos to be cut, to counter any imprecisions so that we do not get any white edges. But that is not really necessary with this system. That's how precise this machine is."
There's also a much shorter wait between printing and cutting, thanks to the VG2's latest automatic pinch roller technology – 'with a print-and-cut task, you no longer have to wait until the ink is completely dry before cutting', explains Chris.
Chris and Bo Gielen from Gielen Reclame have given their full review of the TrueVIS VG2 in a video, including their opinions of the VersaWorks 6 software's ability to match bright and corporate colours, and handle different file formats.
"I was very honoured when Roland asked us to beta test the TrueVIS VG2," Chris says. "It's a super-machine."
At at the end of the trial he had one criticism: "The only negative thing I can say is that Roland won't accept my order yet – I want two VG2 machines, but apparently I have to wait until it's launched!"
