FESPA 2019 buzzes with the latest Roland innovations – inspired by our incredible users

The FESPA Global Print Expo in Munich was a real celebration of innovation for Roland DG and the visitors to our booth.

Taking pride of place was the new TrueVIS VG2 series printer/cutters. Launched in March and taking the show by storm, visitors were eager to see this ground-breaking integrated print & cut device in action. Boasting new Orange ink for an astonishing colour gamut and super-accurate colour-matching capabilities, prints ready to apply in 6 hours* for true same-day installation, new TrueVIS TR2 ink for outstanding stretch, adhesion, rub resistance and outdoor durability – and lots more besides - it’s no surprise that the VG2 is attracting industry-wide attention and accolades.

At FESPA the team was delighted when, on the second day of the show, the new TrueVIS VG2 series won 'Best Print & Cut Solution' in the EDP Awards 2019. These prestigious awards are decided by independent industry professionals who recognise the most exciting technical innovations of the past twelve months. Describing the Roland TrueVIS VG2, the panel said, 'Roland DG has not adhered to existing concepts, but has redefined product development'. In short, we threw out the rulebook – the VG2 is based on Roland’s 35 years of manufacturing expertise and 16 generations of print & cut innovation, and in developing the VG2 we listened to feedback from thousands of experienced users from around the world to ensure the VG2 meets and exceeds the needs of today’s print professionals.

Our on-booth TrueVIS VG2 Discovery Zone gave visitors the chance to see the new VG2-640 and VG2-540 models up-close and the interactive workshops hosted by Nadia Plomp, Product Specialist at Roland DG Benelux, highlighted ‘7 Compelling Reasons to Choose New TrueVIS VG2’- inspiring hundreds of visitors to explore the VG2 and its potential.

Elsewhere on the booth, we shone the spotlight on our incredible range of VersaUV LEF printers with visitors challenged by Giovanni Re, our Community Manager from Roland DG in Italy, to decide ‘Is it Real or Printed?’ - which items were printed on the compact UV-LED print powerhouse, the new VersaUV LEF2-200, and which were the real deal. With incredibly realistic finishes like crocodile skin and leather effects, artificial water droplets and printed paintbrush marks, it was a tough challenge for visitors to tell the difference.

We’re really excited by the VersaUV's potential for unlimited personalisation – a growing global market which we also highlighted at the cotobar on the Roland booth. A must-see for any business interested in merchandise customisation, the cotobar was an interactive showcase of cotodesign, Roland's powerful new design and print management software for customisation applications, and the new Roland VersaSTUDIO BT-12 a compact and incredibly user-friendly direct-to-garment printer for on-demand customisation of cotton T-shirts and other fabric items. FESPA visitors were invited to try each stage of personalisation process for themselves, and take home the unique t-shirts they'd created.

Continuing the theme of ‘What Matters To You Inspires What We Do’, the creations of Roland users were also highlighted on our Roland Hero Inspiration wall. The Roland Hero Awards, launched last year, are a celebration of Roland customers from across EMEA and how they use our systems alongside their own creativity, innovation, entrepreneurship and inspiration to achieve amazing things. Taking pride of place was kayaking equipment produced by the overall Roland Hero winner, Peak UK, using Roland Texart sublimation technology.

Awards, colour, creativity and lots of opportunities to meet our incredible community: FESPA 2019 was a celebration of Roland's innovations and, crucially, how they are used to incredible effect by our customers.
