Meet the Roland users exploring the versatility of LEF printers

Roland users create such a wide variety of products for their demanding customers – and these three businesses in Australia are no exception. In this video, meet Bespoke Packaging, Made by Hands and Sport Award Trophies, who talk about their unique experiences using Roland VersaUV LEF series benchtop UV printers.

Bespoke Packaging

Michelle Harties from Bespoke Packaging estimates her VersaUV LEF-20 benchtop UV printer doubled her business's sales in just six months, after it delivered far more than she expected.

Initially purchased to create custom USBs, Michelle soon discovered the LEF's capacity to print dozens of other bespoke products. Among her favourite jobs is a run of 25 bespoke paint tins and paint brushes, which she says 'did look pretty awesome', and other designs on bamboo and metal. Even on these unusual substrates, the ink is 'durable, it doesn't scratch off, it's great', she says.

Michelle counts photographers among her customers, who she notes are 'fussy with colour' and are satisfied with the results of the LEF-20. "There's never been a colour that we can't print accurately," she says.

Created by Hands

Susana Hands from Created by Hands says prior to purchasing her VersaUV LEF-12 benchtop UV printer the face-mounting process for her work would 'take forever'. Now that work is done by the printer – and much more, enabling the business to expand its product line.

Working with acrylic blocks with the appearance of glass, Created by Hands offers family keepsakes such as blocks printed with baby handprints, wedding invitations, thank-you gifts and bonbonnieres, and awards for the corporate industry. Everything is done on the LEF-12, which prints directly onto the acrylic at the touch of a button.

Buying the printer is 'the best thing I've ever done', says Susana, adding it's 'the Rolls-Royce of all machines'.

Sport Award Trophies

Ross from Sport Award Trophies switched from sublimation processes to UV printing with a VersaUV LEF-12, printing clear text and lines and vibrant colours directly onto materials including wood, acrylic, plastic and glass – the latter adding an 'extra dimension' for the business, he says.

The addition of white ink, which also provides a strong base for over-printed colours, can 'produce a vibrant image on many substrates', he says, perfect for an eye-catching award.

Ross also notes the reliability of the LEF-12 and recommends it to other users. He comments: "It just keeps producing what I want it to produce – a consistent product the whole time. The Roland's a winner."

Be inspired by the enormous print potential of Roland’s VersaUV LEF benchtop printers.
