Scandinavian Packaging for High Profile Products

Slagelse, Denmark - One of the leaders of the Nordic Packaging Industry uses Roland's LEC-330 to produce packaging prototypes of high profile products such as LURPAK butter and TOMS chocolate. However, they have experienced the value of the LEC-330 in unexpected ways.

Danapak Flexible was founded in 1955 and is a well-established Scandinavian packaging company focusing exclusively on flexible packaging. Danapak produces packaging for a large number of international food distributors and manufacturers, such as Arla Foods (ex. LURPAK butter) and TOMS (ex. Anton Berg chocolate).

In the start of 2010, Danapak purchased their 3rd Roland machine - the LEC-330. They had been looking for an UV printer/cutter that could print on a wide variety of media and with the essential color white. The LEC-330 fulfilled their need and has been used, not only to attract new clients, but also to deliver the best possible service to existing customers.

The LEC-330 became a valuable asset when Arla Foods addressed Danapak with an unusual request. Arla Foods was participating in an exhibition at the Danish National Bank and wished to display a 50-year-old design. However, they were hesitant to send one of the few originals they had left and turned to Danapak for assistance. Danapak had the original design and since they had just purchased the LEC-330, Danapak was able to reproduce impressive and realistic mock-ups of the 50-year-old design without excessive costs.

"Today, it is not only important to find new clients - keeping and pleasing existing customers is the key to remaining successful. The LEC-330 enables us to provide that little extra service that makes us stand out," says Ole Kokborg, Danapak Flexibles A/S.

Danapak is currently expanding their markets and has entered the pharmaceutical industry in both Denmark and the US - using the LEC-330 to produce new prototypes.

"The pharmaceutical industry is becoming more and more dependent on flexible packaging. Plasters are gaining in popularity and still more medicine is being produced as plasters. We have the advantage of both In-house production of media and prototypes, which means that we are able to assist with all stages of the development of new packaging - thanks to the LEC-330 we are able to serve our customers optimally," says Ole Kokborg, Danapak Flexible A/S.
