Printing frescos instead of painting them

With the Roland wall print transfer material, you can create beautiful murals in a fast and easy manner, without having to use paint. Instead of paint, you use prints to decorate a wall. The prints are made on special transfer material. When you press this against a wall covered with primer, the image transfers onto that wall. The result is a breathtaking print that has the look and feel of a real fresco.

Field of application

The wall print transfer material (RMC-WP-25-610/1220) is the result of many years of development. Prints that are made on this material with Eco Solvent ink can easily be transferred onto a wall without the use of heat or extreme pressure. The material can also be used to decorate other absorbing surfaces like stone and wooden floors and furniture.

When you own a VersaCAMM, VersaArt or SolJET, you can start producing immediately.

Advantages

  • With the transefer material, you can make beautiful look-alike frescos
  • Old frescos can easily be renovated
  • The quality is very good and the frescos have a long life expectancy
  • The wall print paper can be printed with Roland ECO-SOL Max inks
  • The images have a high resolution
  • The ink fixates well on the material

Application method

  • Use the special RMC-WP profile and print the image in mirror position. Let the print dry for 12-24 hours.
  • Prepare the wall with white or light coloured waterborne paint. Let the paint dry for 12 hours.
  • Apply three coats of the acrylic water based primer (composition 1/3 acrylic primer - 1/6 water) on the wall.
  • Place the transfer on the thoroughly wet wall, using the same technique as wallpapering: use a wallpaper brush to evenly spread the transfer, starting from the top and with a continuous smooth movement towards the bottom and the sides.
  • Thoroughly wet the external side of the printed transfer (polyester banner) with the same primer and let it dry for 24 hours (12 hours minimally).
  • Wet the polyester banner with clear water. After three to four minutes you remove the polyester banner softly from the wall.

Retouching is possible with Acrylics, Tempera and Aquarelle paint. When dry, retouched colours can be fixed with the same primer as you used before. The fresco decoration can be protected with transparent stain (preferably with no water retention, compatible with the same acrylic water based products).
